چکیده

Water hyacinth biomass was used for the synthesis of activated carbons in process chemical activation with H3PO4, followed by controlled carbonization. The study investigates effect various impregnation weight ratios H3PO4 and dry (0.5–3.0), as well different carbonization temperatures (T = 400–800 °C), on surface characteristics produced (AC). carbon obtained an ratio 1.5 a temperature 600 °C (1.5 AC/600) showed highest values specific area 1421 m2 g−1, representing selected adsorbent metformin removal. chosen sample characterized elemental analysis, adsorption–desorption isotherms nitrogen at −196 °C, via FTIR spectroscopy SEM method. modeling experimental adsorption data that adsorption: (i) can be best described Langmuir isotherm model, value qmax 122.47 mg g−1; (ii) led pseudo-second order kinetic model; (iii) is spontaneous (ΔG° −3.44 kJ mol−1) endothermic (ΔH° 8.77 process. A desorption has shown 92% successfully desorbed presence 0.1 MHCl/ethanol mixture (volume 2:1). recovery 84%, after five successive cycles, indicated AC/600 potential to applied real systems water treatment.

Adsorption of diazinon from aqueous solutions onto an activated carbon sample produced in Iran

Background: Considering the severe health and environmental hazards caused by the entry of diazinon toxin into water resources, its removal is very important. Given the high costs of imported adsorbents, this research attempted to evaluate, for the first time, the efficiency of Iranian activated carbon in removing diazinon from aqueous solutions. Methods: In this batch experimental study, the ...

Adsorption of 4-chlorophenol from aqueous solution using activated carbon synthesized from aloe vera green wastes

In this study, activated carbon synthesized from Aloe vera green wastes was used as a sorbent to remove 4-chlorophenol (4-CP) from aqueous solutions. The influence of contact time (0-100 minutes), pH (2-8), adsorbent dosage (1-9 g/l), and initial 4-CP concentration (10-60 mg/l) in batch system was investigated on the sorption. The sorbent was specified using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). ...

Adsorption of Phenol from Aqueous Solution by Water Hyacinth Ash

The potential of water hyacinth ash for phenol adsorption from aqueous solution was studied. Batch kinetic and isotherm studies were carried out under varying experimental conditions of contact time, phenol concentration, adsorbent dosage and pH. The adsorption of phenol decreased with increasing pH. The Freundlich and Langmuir adsorption models were used for the mathematical description of ads...

Removal of Phenolic Compounds from Water Using Sewage Sludge-Based Activated Carbon Adsorption: A Review

Due to their industrial relevance, phenolic compounds (PC) are amongst the most common organic pollutants found in many industrial wastewater effluents. The potential detrimental health and environmental impacts of PC necessitate their removal from wastewater to meet regulatory discharge standards to ensure meeting sustainable development goals. In recent decades, one of the promising, cost-eff...
